UPVC (rigidized polyvinyl chloride) check valves, due to their non-toxicity and water pressure resistance, are commonly used in waterworks, secondary water supply systems, and sewage lift stations to prevent water hammer and backflow contamination. Furthermore, their lightweight design simplifies installation and reduces construction costs.
In environmental protection and heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems, plastic check valves are used to control the unidirectional flow of gases or low-pressure liquids. For example, PPH (polypropylene homopolymer) check valves are commonly found in exhaust gas treatment systems, while CPVC (chlorinated polyvinyl chloride) is suitable for high-temperature hot water circulation pipes. Their low friction coefficient reduces fluid resistance and improves system energy efficiency.
It is important to note that the selection of plastic check valves must strictly match the operating parameters, such as nominal pressure (typically PN10-PN16), temperature range (mostly suitable for -10°C to 120°C), and media characteristics. Although their pressure capacity is lower than that of metal valves, plastic check valves are a preferred option in non-high-pressure applications due to their cost-effectiveness and reliability. In the future, with advances in materials science, high-temperature and wear-resistant engineering plastics will further expand their application boundaries.
