As a core device for water resource measurement, proper operation and maintenance of water meters directly impacts measurement accuracy and service life. This article systematically introduces the standardized operating procedures for complete water meters to help users implement standardized usage and improve management efficiency.

Pre-Installation Preparation

Before first use, inspect the water meter for shipping damage and confirm that the model matches the pipe diameter. The installation location should be protected from strong magnetic fields, severe vibration, and direct sunlight. Position the meter horizontally, ensuring the impeller shaft is parallel to the pipe axis. It is recommended to install a filter at the water inlet to prevent impurities from entering the mechanism and affecting measurement accuracy.

Daily Operation Guidelines

When activating the water meter, slowly open the upstream valve to a half-open position. Allow the water flow to stabilize before fully opening it to avoid sudden high-pressure shocks that could damage internal components. During operation, the accumulated flow displayed in the digital window on the meter dial represents actual water consumption. The red pointer or decimal digits typically indicate accuracy compensation. Maintain a vertical line of sight to the meter dial when reading the meter readings. The fluorescent pointer can be used for visual assistance at night.

Maintenance and Precautions

Check the water meter's seal every six months. If water seepage is detected in the housing or the meter is stuck, immediately discontinue use and contact a qualified technician. When not in use for extended periods, close upstream and downstream valves and drain any remaining water from the pipes to prevent ice buildup and damage. Unauthorized removal of seals or modification of internal components is strictly prohibited. Unauthorized modifications will result in meter failure and legal liability.

Emergency Troubleshooting

If abnormalities such as pointer stagnation or reversal occur, first check for negative pressure or reverse flow in the pipes. In areas with low temperatures in winter, pipe insulation is required to prevent the meter from freezing and cracking. Regular cleaning of the filter can effectively prevent meter errors caused by impurity accumulation.

Proper operation and maintenance are key to ensuring the long-term and stable operation of the water meter. Following the above procedures will not only extend the life of the device but also ensure accurate water resource data, providing a reliable basis for trade settlements and pipe network management.
