The quality of water meter accessories directly impacts the accuracy and service life of metering equipment, so their inspection process requires strict standards. This article systematically explains the key inspection steps for water meter accessories to ensure product compliance with industry standards.

 

Appearance inspection is the primary step. Visually or with a magnifying glass, inspect the accessory surface for defects such as cracks, burrs, and pinholes. Verify that the dimensions conform to the design drawings. For example, connector threads should be intact, and seals should be smooth and free of deformation. This step quickly eliminates obvious substandard products.

Dimensional accuracy inspection relies on specialized measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, and coordinate measuring machines. Key tolerances are measured, such as pipe connection diameters and seal groove depths, to ensure proper fit with the water meter body. Deviations exceeding the allowable range (typically ±0.1mm) may result in leaks or installation difficulties.

Functional performance testing includes pressure testing and seal verification. Accessories must withstand a rated pressure (e.g., 1.6 MPa) for 30 minutes without leakage. Some high-pressure applications may require higher requirements. Sealing tests often use airtightness testers, which detect minor leaks by observing changes in air pressure. Flow control valves and other accessories also require verification of opening and closing flexibility and flow control accuracy.

Material analysis uses spectral testing or chemical reagents to confirm whether the accessory material (such as copper alloy or engineering plastic) meets corrosion resistance and strength requirements. For components exposed to water for extended periods, aging resistance must also be assessed to prevent performance degradation due to environmental factors.

Finally, qualified accessories are accompanied by a test report and sorted for storage. Defective accessories are labeled with the cause of failure and reworked or scrapped. This comprehensive testing process not only ensures the reliability of the water meter system but also provides users with a foundation for accurate metering.
